Vrushika Mehta, the actress from Dil Dosti Dance (D3), who relocated to Canada after getting married, made a special trip to Mumbai specifically for Navratri celebrations. As a proud Gujarati, she expresses that her love for Navratri and garba runs deep in her veins, making any festivity incomplete without them. The vibrant music gives her a burst of energy, allowing her to break into garba spontaneously. She enthusiastically mentions her excitement for dressing up, socializing, and dancing during Navratri. While she has always resided in Mumbai, she acknowledges the allure of experiencing Navratri in Gujarat for the ultimate celebration vibes, a visit she hopes to fulfill in the future.
Reflecting on her fond childhood memories of Navratri, Vrushika shares how her mother used to dress her up for the occasion, ensuring she stayed still while applying three dots on her chin by tempting her with chocolates. With a competitive spirit, she aimed to win a prize every night by dancing wholeheartedly and feeling like a shining star on the dance floor. When it comes to her go-to Navratri attire, she favors flared chaniya cholis, opting for lightweight options that provide comfort and enhance her graceful spins. Depending on the occasion, she chooses between statement jewelry for filming reels and more delicate pieces for dancing, ensuring they complement her outfit."I always dreamed of winning every garba competition during my childhood," she reminisces. Describing her fondest memories of the festival, she recalls, "My mother would dress me up, and in order to make me sit still while she painted three dots on my chin, she would tempt me with chocolates (laughs). I was highly competitive and set on winning a prize every evening. It was all about dancing with all my heart and feeling like a little star." When speaking about her favorite Navratri outfit, she explains, "I adore flared chaniya cholis, but I prefer lightweight ones for comfort and to make my spins look graceful. As for jewelry, if I'm filming a reel, I opt for something bold to make a statement. However, for dancing, I prefer delicate pieces that complement my outfit."
"I am eagerly looking forward to the day when Saurabh and I can celebrate Navratri together," she expresses excitedly about her husband's fondness for garba, which contrasts with her own style that she wishes to learn. Despite not having the opportunity to celebrate Navratri together yet, they did enjoy playing garba during their wedding events, which she found enjoyable.
Vrushika reveals, "Spins are definitely my favorite, along with the playful popatiyu. I also enjoy incorporating dodhiyu and trikoniya moves to keep things interesting." When asked about her favorite garba song, she shares, "Dakla is one of my all-time favorites for its infectious energy. I am also a huge fan of Falguni Pathak; her songs are iconic and always set the perfect mood for Navratri." Recalling her favorite on-set Navratri memory, Vrushika reminisces, "During the filming of Dil Dosti Dance, we shot Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje, which took half a day and was incredibly fun! Our D3 get-togethers always feature garba."
